Henry V

A special screening of Laurence Olivier’s landmark 1944 adaption of Shakespeare’s epic play. Shot in Technicolour, and with a sweeping score by William Walton, the film marked Olivier’s triumphant debut as a director, earning him a special Oscar.

In the midst of the Hundred Years’ War, the young King Henry V of England (played by Olivier) leads a weary and vastly outnumbered English army of unarmoured archers to victory over the French knights of Normandy at the Battle of Agincourt (1415).
